We have come to the end of the year and its been a terrific year for the yoga industry. More people are being exposed to yoga everyday as governments, corporates as well as commercial around the world are supporting and promoting the health benefits of yoga to its citizens and employees. I cannot imagine how the world would be without yoga. It connects and unites people across different background, ethnicity, religion and age.

The recent downpour and heavy flooding in Chennai has really affected millions of people including our Andiappan Yoga College and Asana Publications. Mother Nature is showing her response to our way of life and treatment of the environment. As you might already be aware, these natural disasters are happening more frequently around the world. I urge everyone to be conscious of the environment, consume only what is necessary and ideally what is sustainable and to recycle whenever possible before it is too late. I am also deeply grateful for the supporters who have donated to the fund raising charity event for the Chennai flood victims.

This month we feature Vitaly Shakirov from Ukraine who is incredibly flexible and will surely amaze. If you are looking for Asana inspiration, his you tube videos can motivate those who are looking to deepen their practice.

As we step into the new year of 2016, I would like to wholeheartedly thank everyone who is part of the editorial and design team of Asana as well as our subscribers and readers.

We continually strive to improve the quality of the content and design to keep our readers interested and motivated on their yoga journey.

As always, enjoy your practice and in reading the year end issue of the Asana Journal.

Namaste
